University of North FloridaDr. Carol Babb is an accomplished educator, administrator, and social justice advocate with more than four decades of experience advancing equitable access to education in Belize. She currently serves as Country Director for Peacework Belize, where she supports the implementation of national financial literacy initiatives, including school‑based training programs, youth leadership development, and the Annual Youth Innovation Challenge. Dr. Babb was also part of the pioneering collaboration with PricewaterhouseCoopers to integrate financial literacy into Belize’s primary school curriculum.
In addition, Dr. Babb serves as Education Director for Holy Redeemer Credit Union, providing financial literacy training to member‑owners and supporting access to quality education. She is the author of the children’s book Jacito Learns to Save, which promotes early financial education.
Dr. Babb previously held senior leadership roles within the Ministry of Education, Youth, Sports and Culture, serving as Chief Education Officer and Deputy Chief Education Officer, where she led national efforts to improve educational access, quality, and systemwide effectiveness. She has also served as President of the Belize National Teachers Union, advocating for teacher training and labor rights, and as General Manager and Principal of Anglican Primary Schools, overseeing dozens of schools and educators nationwide.
A dedicated public servant, Dr. Babb has served as a Justice of the Peace since 1988. She holds a Doctor of Education in Higher Education from Oklahoma State University, a Master’s degree in Secondary Education, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education. Her work reflects a lifelong commitment to literacy, leadership, and social equity.
